what is a Parole Package or Parole Packet?

A "parole package" also know as a "parole packet", is a collection of information submitted to the Board by an incarcerated offender, an attorney, or by family in support of the offender's release. While an offender does not need a "parole packet" to obtain a favorable board vote, parole packages can greatly increase the prisoner's chances for making parole. This is because parole packages provide the board members with assurances, such as where the offender will be living, what kind of employment he or she will seek, and a detailed plan for a smooth reintegration back into the community. Assuring the board members that the offender will have support from family, friends, and clergy is always a plus and can help compell a favorable result. If your loved one has an upcoming parole hearing, he or she should submit a parole package to the parole board at least two-three weeks prior to their parole hearing. If you have questions, or want to use our services for preparing a parole package for your loved one, contact us today for a free consultation. Call 405-437-6523

What is a Sentence Commutation?

A sentence commutation is a legal process that reduces a criminal sentence imposed by a court. It is a form of clemency, which is the power to grant mercy to a convicted person.

Sentence Commutation: A Deeper Dive

Sentence commutation is a legal process whereby a government reduces the length of a criminal sentence imposed on an individual. This can be done to correct an excessive sentence, as well as for other reasons. The President of the United States can only grant commutations for federal sentences, while state governors have the authority to commute sentences for crimes committed within their respective states. The decision to grant a sentence commutation is typically influenced by several factors. The severity of the crime, the individual's behavior in prison, the length of the sentence, the circumstances of the case, and public opinion can all play a role. Common reasons for commutations include humanitarian grounds, the correction of unjust sentences, correcting excessive sentences, rewarding good behavior, and addressing broader policy considerations. The process for obtaining a sentence commutation varies by jurisdiction. While the executive branch typically has the primary authority, in some cases, courts or parole boards may also have the power to grant commutations.

It's important to note that the specific procedures and criteria for sentence commutation can vary significantly between states. To use our services for the preparation of a request for a sentence commutation please complete the inmate intake below, or call us at 346-371-4587

Structured Re-Entry Assessment (SRA): Supporting Second Chances with Evidence-Based Progress Tracking

At National Parole and Commutation Services (NPCS), we believe that every incarcerated individual deserves the opportunity to be evaluated fairly and fully—for who they are now, not just who they were at the time of conviction. That’s why we offer our Structured Re-Entry Assessment (SRA)—a powerful, evidence-based tool designed to present a complete picture of an inmate’s progress during incarceration.

The SRA is a comprehensive review and scoring system that analyzes key areas of rehabilitation and readiness for reentry, including:

Behavioral History: Disciplinary records, conflict resolution, and consistent conduct improvements. Program Participation: Involvement and completion of rehabilitative programs, life skills training, vocational education, and therapy. Religious and Spiritual Engagement: Participation in chapel services, religious studies, and spiritually guided mentorships. Educational Achievement: GED completion, college coursework, literacy improvements, or certifications. Reentry Planning: Development of housing plans, employment prospects, community support networks, and counseling commitments.

Our SRA process compiles and organizes these areas into a structured summary with objective scoring, narrative highlights, and supporting documentation. This format is tailored to make a compelling case for parole boards, commutation boards, and correctional officials—ensuring they see the full trajectory of change.

Whether as a stand-alone service or as part of a full parole or commutation package, the Structured Re-Entry Assessment equips families and incarcerated individuals with a professional, organized, and impactful presentation of growth.
